Clean Club Programme

We will be a carbon-neutral yacht club by 2033

Committed to sustainable sailing and shore practices and protecting the ocean environment we all love, we are enrolled in Yachting New Zealand's Clean Club Programme and will become a carbon-neutral yacht club by 2033.

We have recently achieved our second star from YNZ, and are now progressing towards our 3rd one. This includes running the next Regatta again under the Sailors for the Sea Clean Regatta framework.

The Clean Club Programme offers a guiding framework, but for us it's about more than just ticking boxes - we have clear goals for our club-specific actions that align with our unique location and circumstances. With these in place, we're setting our sights on meaningful results that will make a real difference.

  • Tangible benefits for nature, the environment, our community, and our finances
  • We create an achievable and enduring programme of work
  • We extend our reach and impact by working with others
  • We build our club community by encouraging engagement and participation

Support Ghost Diving

'Ghost fishing' is what fishing gear does when it has been lost, dumped or abandoned in the seas and oceans. They can and will keep 'fishing' for multiple decades, possibly even for several centuries.

Ghost Diving is the largest and most experienced global diving organization focused on the 'ghost fishing' phenomenon. Ghost Diving is driven by volunteer technical divers who carry out removal projects and raise awareness about the ghost fishing issue on a global scale.

You can support their important work.

AQ Bags

What to do with your old and/or shredded sails? Give them to Lyndal, and she will turn them into practical, sturdy bags - or if you have a specific idea, let her know.

It's a great option to reuse and recycle sail cloth, and reduce landfill, so please get in touch with her if you have any 'donations' to make.
