Wellington Spirit Helmsman Josh Junior has started a campaign for the 2016 Olympics in the Finn class this week in Weymouth England. After three days of the Sail For Gold regatta Junior is in 17th place in a red hot fleet including most of the sailors who will be sailing in the Finn at this year's Olympics.
"It has been real baptism of fire over here this past week" explained Junior.
"This is my first major regatta in the Finn and the learning curve is really steep. The boats are beautiful to sail but are quite a handful physically. One thing I know for sure is that I need to get a whole lot stronger and put on a few more kilos."
Junior will return to Wellington after Sail for Gold and start preparing with the rest of Wellington Spirit for a series of match racing regattas in August including the St Moritz leg of the World Match Racing Tour.
