Wellington Ocean Sports Project celebrates end of year one with the launch of a new website

The Wellington Ocean Sports programme celebrated the end of its first year of operation with the launch of a new website.
"We have spent the last 12 months setting up relationships with a range of sports such as windsurfing, waka ama, canoeing, kayaking and sailing. We are now at the point where each of these sports have developed opportunities for people to discover, experience and learn their sport and we are opening the doors for registrations" said Matt Wood, Wellington Ocean Sports Project Manager.
Over the last few months Wood and his team have been working with each of the sports to publish activity and course descriptions and to put in place a calendar of events.
"We have now put this altogether in the Wellington Ocean Sports website which will go live at midnight tonight, exactly one year after we began the project" explained Wood.
People can browse the site and choose activities such as have a go days, harbour sails and waka ama courses. Once they have chosen their activity they can book it for themselves or for a group. If the activity is full then people will be able to join a waiting list.
The whole process is designed to make it as easy as possible for Wellingtonians to get active in an Ocean Sport.
