Learn Ocean Sports

Our Keelboat Sailing courses will take you from a complete novice through to cruising on the ocean waves, sailing in yacht races or owning your own boat.

Courses begin with the introductory 'Learn to Sail Keelboats' course, then move into courses such as 'Racing Crew' which starts you down the action packed racing pathway or 'Cruising Crew'  which takes you down the more leisurely cruising path.

We provide the knowledge, the yachts, the wet weather clothing and the safety gear - you simply provide the enthusiasm!

Our Kayak courses will introduce you to the joys of kayaking and equip you with the skills to cruise the harbour, paddle the marlborough sounds or take on a river expedition.

Courses begin with the introductory 'Learn to Kayak' course then moves into courses such as 'River Paddling' which gets you ready for river expeditions or ''Ocean Paddling'  which gets you ready to explore places such as the Wellington Harbour, the Marlborough Sounds and Golden Bay.

We provide the canoe and kayaks, as well as the safety gear - you simply provide the enthusiasm!

We deliver a range of Coastguard Boating Education courses which are designed to help you become safer on the water, whatever your craft may be.

Courses begin with the 'Day Skipper' course, progressing through to the 'Boatmaster' and 'Coastal Skipper' courses.  These are supplemented by the 'VHF Radio Operator' and 'Marine First Aid' courses.

We provide the knowledge, the learning environment and the safety gear - you simply provide the enthusiasm!

 Wellington Ocean Sports is an RYA Powerboat training centre, we teach and examin  both RYA Powerboat Level 2 and ICC. RYA and ICC qualifications are the most widely recognised marine qualifications in the world and also have commercial applications in some countries.  Even if you have no plans to go overseas there is no safer way to get involved in powerboats than through and RYA course.
