Youth Scheme team reports in after final day at RPAYC in Sydney
Hi All,
Yesterday was our final day of racing as the round robin between 5-10 commenced. The hot weather led to a light sea breeze that struggled to develop due to the cloud cover. The breeze was once again very shifty and posed many opportunities for teams to catch up if they were behind, or extend if they were in front.
We had a very strong day's racing, winning 5 from 5 leading us to finish 5th overall in the championship. We were all very happy with our performance on our last day as our starts were often strong followed by good decisions up the course which led to four convincing wins and one close finish.
In the evening we traveled to Manly where the team went swimming and enjoyed a pizza on the waterfront.
Today we're looking forward to watching the final between Steele and Hazard.
Tomorrow the team travels to CYCA, as Sam Mackay is expected to arrive. Sam McKenzie flies to Melbourne on November 29 to compete in Sail Melbourne.
The team has really enjoyed their time in Pittwater and competing in Harken. We have all learnt a lot thanks to the help of coach, Josh Junior, and we look forward to the possible opportunity of competing in the regatta next year and achieving a better result. The team would like to thank RPNYC and Youth Scheme for their on going support and sending us to the regatta.
Cheers
RPNYC Harken Team, Pittwater
