Worser Bay Boating Club win 2012 Central Region Interclub Champs

Worser Bay Boating Club, with their senior team skippered by Commodore Bridget Leppein and their youth team skippered by Adam Middleton, have emerged victorious as the winners of the 2012 Central Region Interclub Champs.

Racing on day one was fast and furious with seven teams from clubs across the Yachitng New Zealand Central Region sailing a round robin format. Each club had a senior team who raced in MRXs and a youth team who raced in e6s. 

After the round robin phase Worser Bay Boating Cluib, Plimmerton Boating Club and New Plymouth Yacht Club were identified as the three top teams to sail off in a gold fleet final. With one eye on the weather forecast for day two Race Officer Paul Davies held three races involving these teams just to put a result in the bank in case the second day of racing turned out as predicted.

Unfortunately the forecast for day two came to pass and after a morning waiting for the wind to abate the decision was made to abandon sailing for the day. So the final results for the 2012 Central Region Interclub Champs are ...

Congratulations Worser Bay on a great result. Well done Rowdy and Wayne with all the regatta admin and thanks to the Paul and the Race office team for a well run event. Thanks to the clubs for coming and we hope to see you all again next year.
