The Line 7 Marine Port Nicholson Regatta, featuring the PHRF National Keelboat Championship is Wellington's premier keelboat event each February. Large fleets are treated to three days of round the cans and harbour racing plus a full programme of social events
Each summer Wellington hosts the CentrePort International Youth Match Racing Championship as the final leg of the trans tasman youth match racing circuit. Racing is always intense on the inner harbour with trans tasman bragging rights up for the grab!
Every spring eight teams come to Wellington to compete for the title of national champion at the New Zealand Youth Match Racing Championship. Racing takes place over four days for the Warren "Wolfie" Williams trophy to become the New Zealand youth match raicng champions.
Every three years the Two Handed Central Triangle Race starts from Wellington with the first leg of 195 nautical miles taking the fleet to Akaroa. Leg two takes the fleet 350 miles north to Napier and the final leg of 205 miles back to Wellington completes the triangle. The next race will be in 2016.
