We like people to think of the club as their 'other' place, a city bach by the sea, a meeting place on the harbour's edge, a comfortable place to play, to do business, to socialise and to relax at, right in the heart of Wellington City's iconic waterfront.

If sailing is your thing then we have a comprehensive year round sailing programme that is the envy of many a city around the world. We have a wide variety of sailing opportunities from harbour races, to cruising, to regattas, to offshore racing, to social sailing, to night racing and much, much more.

You don't need to be into sailing to belong to the club. We have a wide range of facilities and programmes which you are more than welcome to take full advantage of. These include a year round programme of social events, yachts to take your family and friends out for a sail, a cafe, two bars, a restaurant, meeting rooms for your out-of-office meetings or seminars, a sailing academy for all your boating education needs and a venue for your next party, big or small.

And if you want to join as a business then that is possible as well. We have established the RPNYC Business Club so businesses and other organisations can enjoy all the strong networks and relationships associated with belonging to one of Wellington's most established clubs. Furthermore RPNYC Business Club members receive preferential booking and member discounts on all the products and services of the Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club.

What are the benefits of personal membership?

As a general club member you receive:

What are the categories of personal membership and how much do they cost?

There are two main categories of personal membership - General at $160 and Senior Sailing at $420.

Within the sailing membership category you can also take out a family sailing membership for $840, an overseas sailing membership at $160, and a student/junior sailing membership at $100.

What are the benefits of RPNYC Business Club membership and how much does it cost?

As a business club member you organisation receives:

• Five RPNYC Membership cards for use by any members of your team
• 20% discount on all sailing activity
• 20% discount on room hire for daytime meetings and a complimentary morning tea with each booking
• 10% discount on dining at Martin Bosley’s Restaurant
• $400 discount on venue hire for evening functions in The Wardroom
• A Friday night Rum Race entry and dinner in the Wardroom for up to seven people - worth up to $400
• Monthly $50 voucher to spend on Friday night drinks in The Wardroom
• Five complimentary tickets to quarterly networking events
• Preferential bookings for RPNYC events (and a free ticket with every five tickets purchased)

If I want to participate in racing what type of membership do I need?

You have to be a sailing member to participate in the club's racing programme. You can sail in three races to try it out but after that you have to be a sailing member.

If you are an active sailing member of another Wellington yacht club you can join as a general member and participate in up to ten races in the 12 months of your membership.

If you have completed a Sailing Academy course in the last two months then you can join as a general member for one year and sail in as many races as you like in that 12 month period.
